the poppy field

so fades the seasons springtime show
the bluebells bow their curtain call.
with rosehip-blooms the lanes are filled
warm summer rays burst o’er the hill.

among the green-swathes early corn
first signs of summers coming show.
the larks ascend their fancy’s sing
on gentle solstice breeze they wing.

and grows the summers goldening light
of early dawns and lengthening nights.
along the edge of ripening field
new blooms appear blush-red revealed.

contrasted by the corn they rise
the scene all dressed by azure skies.
what pure delights does nature yield
to take a walk in poppy fields.
